INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR STREET CHILDREN

International Day for Street Children

National Theatre projection
The first International Day for Street Children was launched at a reception at the National Theatre on April 12th 2011

The International Day for Street Children takes place on April 12th. Now in its fourth year, the day provides a platform for the millions of street children around the world to speak out so that their rights cannot be ignored.

Since its launch in 2011 support for the day has grown – in 2013 activities took place in 132 countries. The day is celebrated by street children, NGOs, policy makers, businesses and individuals around the world. Over the last few years activities and celebrations have been diverse and have included football tournaments, street parades, workshops, balloon releases, film screenings, art exhibitions, a record breaking shoe shine, a ‘street kids got talent’ competition and local level advocacy.

If the Whole World Was Listening, What Would You Say?

We're asking people, especially street children, from all around the globe what they would say if the whole world was listening for just one day; International Day for Street Children. Tell us what you would say, and we'll put them up online.
